Nike Sites
During the Cold War, several Nike missile bases were built on the rugged terrain of the Angeles as part of the Los Angeles Defense System. The sites were Mt. Gleason (LA-04), Barley Flats/Mount Disappointment (LA-09), Los Pinetos (LA-94), and Magic Mountain/Lang (LA-98). Other Sites in LA County, but in the Santa Monica Mountains included Oat Mountain (LA-88)
