Camp Rosenita
Camp Rosenita was located on Santa Clara Divide Road on what is now known as Rosenita Saddle. It was formerly the site of a short-lived Girl Scout Camp, established in 1958 and removed in 1966. Since that date the site has had no recreational use except as a trailhead to Mount Hillyer. The structures were razed and the site has naturally revegetated itself.
Early in 1957, the Rosemead Girl Scout Council began thinking about a camp site which its young members might use. Within 18 months, volunteers of parents and Girl Scouts built Camp Rosenita in November 1958.
It was once spelled Camp Rosanita. “Rosanita” was a contraction of Rosemead and manzanita.
